Get Wisdom Part II
I asked my grandmother the secret to being married for 64 years and here is her insightful answer.
“I think my secret for staying married for 64 years is having respect for your mate and never saying anything in anger to hurt the other person. Working together as a team and giving 100% to the marriage. We must also let God have his rightful place in our lives. I’m afraid young couples today don’t take their marriage vows as seriously as they should. They should never loose sight of the fact that they loved each other when they got married, and work at regaining that love no matter what conflicts might occur. Any marriage is worth fighting for. It’s a matter of putting yourself in the other person’s place and listening to their point of view. They also need to pray and seek God’s will for their lives. How did I handle conflict? We were blessed to have so much in common. We were both from the same kind of background and were raised in christian homes Our parents never fought with each other so we were not used to conflicts in the home. I don’t want say that we never had any disagreements but I refused to argue, and pretty soon the whole thing was forgotten. We always respected each other’s point of view. When I was first married and came to Florida as a 19 year old I was so homesick I wanted to go back home but I knew I had married for better or worse so I just had to make the best of it. It wasn’t long until things got better and we’ve had a wonderful life together.”
I can only pray that I will be able to say the same thing one day.
Get Wisdom
My grandmother inspires me. She is an 83 year old woman who has had a relationship with Christ longer than I have been alive. I asked her how she was able to maintain her faith all these years because, quite frankly, I want someone to ask me this when I am 83 and I need to know what to say.
“Erica,
You asked me how I maintained my faith in Christ all these 83 years. Well, that is a very easy question to answer. Having been brought up by Christian parents I always knew that I loved God and he loved me. I know that when I’ve had difficult times in my life like loosing my parents my sisters and brother my faith brought me closer to Christ. I learned to trust God in everything especially since my dear husband has been ill. At times I tend to feel sorry for myself but then I turn to God and start thanking him for his many blessing. He has been so good to me through the years.
My favorite verses are:
I’st Thessalonians 5: 16,17,& 18
Rejoice in everthing
Pray constantly
Give thanks in everything for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
What an amazing woman!!

The Case For Early Marriage
I just came across a thought provoking article about sex and marriage. It is a practical and sobering christian view on why we should get married young. I would love to know what you think. Read it and discuss in the comment section.

I have always wanted to go to the South Pacific until I found out about these guys. It is a giant Coconut Crab that will most definitely haunt my dreams tonight. They are able to crack open coconuts with their claws and eat the inside. Knowing that these things are insanely huge and have pinchers that can crack open your skull makes me wonder if God was playing a cruel joke on us when he created them.
I would pass out if I was walking through the forest and ran into one of these at eye-level doing crab things. This is why I am now crossing off of my bucket list, “Scuba dive in the South Pacific.”
